Job Title: DTH Driller and Sampler – Temporary – 2 to 3 month term

Position Summary: Responsible for carrying out drilling and sampling activities according to mine planning engineering, environment and geology.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Under the direction of the Operation Supervisor, the Driller and Sampler will bore production holes with a DTH drill in accordance to the established drilling plan.
  • Sampling of hole cuttings according to the established procedures and standards
  • Maintain the Drill and Drill string components in good operating condition following pre-shift routines and established operating standards
  • Keep the work environment clean and safe for themselves and other workers
  • Compile daily drill logs
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time as required
  • Qualifications:

  • A minimum experience of five thousand (5000) hours experience on a down the hole hammer drill within a production environment
  • Prior operating experience with AC D65 and or Sandvik DR560 would be an asset
  • Be able to work in a production environment in order for the production requirements (quantity and quality) of the equipment will be achieved; to drill in different rock type and apply drilling techniques that allow drilling in wet ground, use of casing, etc.
  • Read and understand drill engineering drawings
  • Possess excellent communication skills, leadership skills, be autonomous, a team player and has an excellent attitude and behavior
  • Incumbents typically have 2-5 years of experience with a DTH drill.
  • Be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs.
  • This position involves working at a remote mine site on a two week on/two week off rotation. There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
