Duties

Plans, manages and delivers human resources management programs and services for one or more Parks Canada Agency organizational components (i.e. field unit, service centre) characterized by human resources management challenges and issues moderate in complexity and scope.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or any other field relevant to the work to be performed

Or Certification as Human Resources Professional

Or Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable experience in human resources

"Indeterminate and term incumbents of positions in the PE group on September 1, 2004 at Parks Canada and the Public Service who do not possess the education level prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience.

Experience:

Significant and recent experience in developing and providing operational and strategic advice, guidance and recommendations to management on complex or sensitive human resources issues, including HR planning, staffing, and labour relations;

**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience acquired over a period of approximately three (3) years.

Experience developing assessment tools (written exams, interview questions, reference checks, etc.);

Experience providing advice and mentoring/coaching to HR team members, management colleagues, and supervisors on human resources related issues;

Experience in supervising staff

Experience in building and maintaining relationships with colleagues and partners

Knowledge:

Human Resources Management: Understanding and applying human resource management (HRM) practices, policies and principles;

Legislation, Policies, Procedures and Standards: Understanding and using relevant legislation, policies, procedures and/or standards in performing one's work;

Knowledge of Human Resources functions and their interrelationships;

Knowledge of trends, programs, best practices and principles in human resource.

Knowledge of Northern land claims and different cooperative management settings

Health and Safety.

Experience working in cross cultural settings involving Indigenous groups.

Operational Requirements:
