FAQ 2: What is LMI?
Labour Market Information, or LMI, is simply the information we need and use to make better decisions about jobs, training and career possibilities. The use of LMI can help guide you towards promising and available jobs and careers, and help determine if a career is a good fit for you based on your skills, interests and life requirements. LMI includes job specific information such as educational requirements, main duties, wage rates, the availability of workers, current employment trends and the outlook for the position or overall industry. LMI also includes industrial information including how many people have jobs in a particular sector, descriptions of industries, lists of employers, and the industry's importance to a community.

YUWIN has a few sites to get you connected to LMI. Why not look up information about the job or industry, or research new careers you are considering? If you are looking for work in any other part of Canada you can easily link to that province by selecting the other WINs icon on the right of the YuWIN Homepage.

FAQ 7: If an employee works on a statutory holiday how much do they get paid?
If an employee who regularly works full time or permanent part-time hours for you, then they must be paid for the statutory holiday whether or not they work on that day. If an employee normally works 5 hours per day for you on their regularly scheduled working days, you must pay them for 5 hours on the statutory holiday even if they don't work. If this same employee works on that statutory holiday then they must be paid to their 5 hours entitlement PLUS time and a half for the hours they actually work on that holiday.

For a part-time employee who works irregular shifts weekly, you can calculate their entitlement for the statutory holiday by taking 10% of their previous two weeks wages. If they work on the statutory holiday, then they must be paid their entitlement plus time and a half for the hours they work.
